keep vid
By now nearly everyone online has watched a movie at YouTube and if you haven’t you will probably end up there at some point. There are quite a few places popping up online that offer the same sort of service; Google even has one called Google Video. Basically You can search and watch millions of videos online. You can even copy some code and paste the video onto your own site with ease. The only problem is you can’t save the video in a format that usable. That is until now.

Keep Vid is a new online service that is will allow you to copy and paste the address of your favorite YouTube video and they will then convert it to a usable format; the .FLV file. That is Flash Video for anyone not familiar with an FLV file.

Once you have the video you can play it using an FLV player such as the VLC player or convert it to another format using some other free software. I am on a mac so I used isquint but you can also find other free software for PC that does the same thing. This software will allow you to convert the FLV file into another more compatible format and then do what ever you want with the movie.

So if you feel the need to actually save one of the videos you see at YouTube.com or many of the other sites, you may want to give Keep Vid a go.

Other video sites that Keep Vid also supports are:
Angry Alien, ArtistDirect, Blastro, Blennus, Blip.tv, Bofunk, Bolt, Break.com, Castpost, Current TV, Dailymotion, DevilDucky, FindVideos, Free Video Blog, Google Video, Grinvi, Grouper, iFilm, LuluTV, Metacafe, Midis.biz, Music.com, MusicVideoCodes.info, MySpace, MySpace Video Code, Newgrounds, PcPlanets, Pixparty, Putfile, REVVER, Sharkle, StreetFire, That Video Site, The One Network, VideoCodes4U, VideoCodesWorld, VideoCodeZone, vidiLife, VIDNET.com, Vimeo, vSocial, Web62.com, YouTube and ZippyVideos.
