These tiny little wind-up lights look pretty neat. I know batteries are good and in these LED lights they last forever but what if that little battery goes dead? I know I don’t keep the little ones on hand. I have a drawer full of A’ AA’ and even D’ batteries but I don’t have any of the little tiny flat ones. This is why I think this little tiny crank light would be handy to have. Plus at only $8 a pop and a bunch of colors to choose from you can’t go wrong really.

The great folks over at the Techeblog have posted a great article about a potential new sink that is truly inspiring and amazing. As you can see from the images the design is beautiful but it also takes interactivity and controlling the sink to a whole new world. To control the water flow and temperature you use a metal ball that is tracked by electromagnets. It also has LED lights in both red and blue to light up the sink and water depending on whether you choose cold or hot water.

I would love a sink like this in my house but I know my kids would lose the damn ball within minutes. Plus I think this is just a concept at the moment.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner love is in the air. I can only see snow in the air right now here but you know what I mean. This set of t-shirts actually detects each other and the closer the shirts in proximity the more hearts light up on the shirt. You can see from the images just how it works but basically you wear one shirt and give the other to someone you love and the closer you are to each other the more hearts light up. I don’t think I could get my wife to wear one of these if I paid her but I still like the idea.

Of course you need two shirts and a transmitter pack in order use them and the total package for 2 shirts and a the transmitter pack will cost $62 ($25 per shirt plus $12 for transmitter pack) and this does not include the shipping.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/generic/a090/

I also found a really cheesy video that shows how the shirts might work at a party.

The designer is Lee Ki-Seung and his design recently won at the Red Dot Online: Design Concept. Here is what he says about his design:

Instant Blossom is a reinterpretation of the traditional vase. Presented as an “instant” package that contains a simulated vase and hydroponic flowers, it unobtrusively adds life to a space, or can be shared with others.

Well we had our first snow here in Donegal just a few days ago and it has me thinking about my years in Washington State as a kid. During winter the snow would get deep and last for a few weeks, not like here were it’s a dust of snow then gone the same day.

I am surprised this sort of invention didn’t exist sooner. It seems like the a great idea for a snow shovel. Basically it’s a snow shovel with a wheel. Hence the name “Wovel”. Snow is heavy and when it comes to shoveling the stuff, you can hurt your back pretty quickly if your not careful. This design really leverages your weight with the snow thanks to the over sized wheel. You pretty much have to see the video to understand how it works though. At least I did.

You can have it all for only $119.95.

http://www.wovel.com

I have a video posted after the jump.

Finding the right color or colour depending on where your from, used to be a daunting task but not anymore. This is probably the 3rd tool I have seen the last few months that was built to help you pick the palette. COPASO is very easy to use and allows you to easily save your palettes for use in the future. One thing I really love about COPASO, aside from it’s ease of use, is the fact that you can share your palette with the world.

If your stuck and need to find palette or perhaps you want to share your own palettes with the world, I suggest you visit COPASO and give it a whirl.

Now that the holidays are over and everyone has been back at work for a couple weeks we all start feeling the aches and pains of winter. Unless you live in Hawaii or some place warm, you lucky lucky people. Either way I think we could all use something like the Human Touch Massage Chairs. I would probably work so much more and be so much happier if I had one of these chairs at work. Either that or I would be asleep all the time because an overdose of relaxation, either way I’d be a lot happier that’s for sure.

Here is what they have to say about their chairs and from just reading it my back is starting to ache and my body is craving one of these awesome chairs.

Well in most modern browsers web developers can add what’s called a favicon to their website that will display an icon whenever someone adds it to their favorites or bookmarks. You may see my little face in the top near the “http://”, this is my favicon for this site. It’s not a big deal but when someone is going through their bookmarks it can set your link apart.

They can be tricky to make since some browsers will read them differently but not anymore. I found a wonderful little ajax site that does exactly what it says on the tin. In three steps you have your very own favicon.

If you’ve ever tried to find a sound sample to use in a podcast, ring tone or maybe to rework all the default sounds used by your computer, you may have noticed it’s not that easy to do. With all the different formats out there from WAV to MIDI to ACC and now MP3 it can be very confusing. In walks Sound Snap. The site is full of sound files submitted by their users and free to use on whatever you like. The sound files are easy to find and listen to before you actually download anything and once you do decide to download the sound you can choose from MP3, WAV and sometimes AIFF. Best part is they are all free.

I like this idea a lot. I lived in Hawaii for a long time. In fact I have lived in Hawaii for over 18 years of my life and in a place with so much water and so much sun you could really get a lot of use from such a great little gadget. Basically it’s a snorkel and mask with a digital camera built in.

Digital underwater camera built into a swimming mask makes underwater photography “Hands Free” for safer swimming. Photograph or video friends, family or fish. Connect camera to your computer with the USB cable provided. Download the images and video to your computer to email or print. 3.1 MP, 16 MB SD Ram. SD Card Slot for external memory up to 2 GB (SD card not included). Photo & video editing software included.

I would really love to try one of these out for myself and see how well they work. I can’t find a price anywhere as of yet but considering I spent an average of $50 for a decent snorkel and mask plus another $200 for a camera with a water casing it could not be much worse. I could be wrong though.

Well it’s about time. We were promised flying cars and jet packs back in the 80’s but I have yet to take my jet pack or flying car out for a spin nor do I see them for sale anywhere near me. But soon we may have a car that can go underwater which is almost as cool as a flying car or jet pack and this time it looks like they may be serious. I for one, will not be holding my breath (pun not intended but still kinda funny).

I present to you the SQuba car/submarine. A car that can also dive to 30 feet of depth underwater. sQuba is one of the concept cars that will go public at the Geneva Motor Show that runs from March 6th to 16th, 2008. The world’s first real diving car with zero emission power is powered by an electric motor when it’s on land and once in water, the propulsion is provided by by two propellers and a pair of jet drives at the push of a button. I just like the sound of having “jet drives”. Of course at first this sort of thing will only be for the uber rich but who knows in a few years perhaps nearly all cars might have an underwater model available. I can dream right?

To find out more about the SQuba you can visit the website below.

We never did Christmas Crackers as a kid. Most Americans would not know what they are. I first pulled a cracker in Ireland at the age of 21 when I was invited home with my girlfriend at the time (she is my wife now). I was blown away and really surprised that more Americans didn’t use Christmas Crackers.

To put a new twist on the whole cracker experience, a company based here in Ireland called Angry has created some crackers of their own. These look very fun and instead of paper hats they come with felt hats that will last longer and can be customised to both fit your head and look different by customizing your crown.

They also come with some clever buttons that will help you communicate while eating with phrases like “more turkey” and “one more sprout please”. If that was not enough they also come with a joke written by the clever folks at Angry.

This gadget/toy looks great since it combines a metal detector and a remote control car. When metal is detected a light comes on and an alarm goes off as well. I am sure it’s not for serious treasure hunters but it could be fun for the kids and dads alike at only $80.

I seen these yesterday and decided to buy two for my kids as night lights. If you read this blog a lot you may be thinking “Hey didn’t he just buy his kids some night lights from Mathmos?” and you’d be right. You’d really be creeping me out by the amount of energy and time you put into reading my blog but you’d be right. I did just buy a couple Mathmos lights for my kids a few month back (here is the post about that) and they totally love them. The only problem is that they are not working very well these days. It could be from leaving them plugged on or perhaps just a defect in the lights but they have both started flickering a lot. So much so that they have even woke the kids up in the middle of the night.

These look pretty cool and to be honest I will probably like them more than my kids will since they totally remind of the my Nintendo Mario days when the mushroom saved my life so many times before. I sure hope the $12 price tag doesn’t mean they will die an early death but I will keep you all posted.

Mario Mushroom Lights

UPDATE: My kids have been using these now for a few weeks and I have to say they are cool to look at at night time. They don’t give off much light and feel a bit flimsy at first. I will say the battery usage is amazing. We have had them on for a few hours each night, from the time my kids go to bed at 8pm until I go to bed at 11pm, and we still have the same batteries in them. I must not I have had them for nearly 2 months now. Over all I will say they are worth the price.
