I Spy… Fernado Torres, Spain and Liverpool

June 23rd, 2008 2 Comments »

I don’t normally write about football (soccer) but I felt this was worthy of sharing. Since Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all out of the European Cup we have all been forced to pick another European country to support at this years European Cup. I decided to support Spain since it’s the home of the new number one Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. I assumed other Liverpool fans might do the same but never on this scale. It’s a great ad I seen last night while watching Spain beat Italy.

I Spy…Sex and the “Inner” City

May 31st, 2008 No Comments »

With all the hype that’s now buzzing about the new “Sex and the City” movie I felt it would be a good time to pull up an oldie but a goody. These flash animations were made by a website that no longer exists called Romp.com. The files thankfully are still alive online and available for us to enjoy.

There were only 5 episodes and each one takes it’s own spin and gives a smack on the butt to the whole “Sex and the City” cast. I still laugh each time I watch these.

Each of these are very much like “Sex and the City” in that they are not very safe for work. You’ve been warned.

I Spy…Superbowl Adblitz

bud light fire breath

Well I know this is a bit late but It’s been bouncing around in my head and I just thought i’d share.

Being away from America means missing the Super Bowl and all the Super Bowl parties. I know pockets of people who live here and did watch the superbowl but with the time difference it didn’t start until 10:30 pm. We also don’t get one of my favorite parts, the ads. The Super Bowl was on the BBC here but all the ads were replaced with ads the BBC decided to air and not the ones people in the states were watching.

Thanks to the world wide web I am able to see them online and in fact this year thanks to a youtube channel I didn’t have to go searching for them.

I have placed a few of my favorites here after the jump.

I Spy…Donnie Hoyle Doing Photoshop

you suck at photoshop by Donnie

Tutorials are great. Even the most useful tutorial can be a bit bland and even boring at times. I am not knocking anyone who takes the time to teach. I admire them and appreciate the effort and patience they display each time they make a tutorial. I have even made quite a few myself and I know how hard it is to keep things interesting.

Donnie Hoyle is the new king of tutorials and he has made a few educational yet hilarious Photoshop tutorials called “You Suck at Photoshop”. His comedy style is pure genius and I enjoyed each second. Watch as Donnie explains how to do some of the more popular techniques while subtly shedding insight into his not-so-happy marriage.

I Spy…New Bill Gates Retirement Video

bill gates rocks out to guitar hero

If you have not seen this video released last night at CES 2008 as part of Bill Gates keynote speech you should really check it out. I am an Apple user but love the way Bill Gates can laugh at himself. You have to admire the richest man in the world on some level and props go out to the G man himself. I really laughed at Bono’s appearance, Guitar Hero? Very funny stuff.

I Spy…My Dæmon

Amantha Christian’s Dœmon

This is sort of interesting and kind of fun. The new movie coming up very soon called “The Golden Compass” features a fantasy world where each person has a Dæmon which is a soul mate or best friend and is a reflection of their personality and is also an animal. So throughout the movie you see every single person with some sort of animal near them. This may or may not prompt you to ask “What would my Dæmon be?”. If you are asking yourself that and would like to know you can follow the link and take the test for yourself and see.

After taking the test myself I was given a Dæmon called Amantha and she is a terrier dog which is creepy because I have only owned two dogs during my adult life and both were terriers, granted not exactly like the one shown above but very similar.

You can also visit their well made flash site to take the test and find out more about the movie:

I Spy…FixMyMovie.com. They fix movies.

fix my movie

Fixmymovie.com is one of the few sites using the new technology released by Adobe in their latest flash player. Without getting too technical it basically allows for much better quality for your videos. This means that eventually we will see better videos on places like YouTube and other video sites. In addition to using this new technology, Fixmymovie.com also fixes other aspects of your movies such as lighting, colour and pixelation making your videos look better. Below is a sample movie I created this weekend with my phone (nokia N70) to document the fact that we had no water on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon due to poor pressure at our new house.

If you have movies that need fixing then you may want to jump over to FixMyMovie.com

To see a sample video and my opinion of the service, just click the “continue reading” link.

I Spy…ExpoTelevision

expotelevision

So you just bought a new gadget and you either love it our hate it. Well now you can make some of that hard earned cash back by making a video telling the world what you thought it. ExpoTelevision will pay you $5.00 (€3.64) for each video you make for their site, plus $.01 for each time your video is viewed.

That may not sound like much money but if you had 30,000 views you would make $30 (€22). The best part is that your opinion is being heard by the WORLD. You’d also continue making money as long as your video was being watched.

I know what I am going to do this weekend. Go around my house and find anything I purchased recently and make a video about what I like and don’t like about it. This is going to be fun.

It sounds like a great idea and I, for one, will be checking this site before I buy anything else EVER.

Check it out for yourself at:
