Now this is pretty cool stuff. It’s new technology that allows a new layer to be added to both video and printed material enabling digital cameras to see something that the human eye can not see. The photo to the right has an example of a t-shirt worn by the lovely model that with naked eye looks like a cloud. But if viewed with a digital camera you can see a lightning bolt below the cloud. This means we may soon be seeing things in our photos that we did not see when we took the photo. I can see advertisers using this all over the place and could even be used to stop (or hinder) pirated copies of movies.
You can find a bit more about the science behind the technology at their website and see a few more example images:
Well I have to apologies for the massive delay in my updates. I have been offline in America. It had been three years since I visited my home town and well over due. I have been living in Ireland and the trip home is not an easy one to make, especially with two young kids.
We all had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. I went through internet withdrawals for the first week or so but then totally forgot about it all together. I have placed a few fun movies from out trip on youtube and I have some selected photos as well below.
I had a bit of fun over the father’s day weekend with my son Connor. We sat down and decided to make a little movie using only my phone and the editing features of the site JumpCut.com which allows you to upload clips directly to their site then use their web 2.0 tools to cut, crop and edit your clips online for free.
Ok it’s fair to say I really want one of these and I am not alone here. I would say that even people who don’t love Apple computers would still have to say this is going to be one very cool gadget. I am living in Ireland and currently use Vodafone and where I live T-Mobile does not exist. This means that if T-Mobile get the new iPhone for Europe then no one living in Ireland (not northern ireland) would be able to get a new iPhone when they do finally come out. That would be a real shame.
These new ads are great in showing the true “wow” factor these little things have and you get to see just how fun they might be to use as well. Steve if your reading this right now and I know your a big fan of the i spy site, please make a deal with Vodafone and not T-Mobile so I might get my hands on one.
I have always loved time lapse video. Watching a flower grow in only a few seconds or even minutes is amazing to see. This video from Ollie Larkin is time lapse video but done in key locations and in panorama style. It’s a must see in my book. The quicktime file is 37mb but well worth the wait. They now have a smaller version at youtube but the quality is much better in the larger version.
Today I found this light hearted view of the apple vs. pc ads that apple has been running for a while now. If you have not seen them here is a list of links to all versions:
I have actually seen the making of this a while back but it was from a cell phone and the quality was not very good at all. I’d say the final version is much better and cool to watch. Basically Sony has taken over 25,000 gallons of paint and decided to totally cover an apartment block. It actually looks like fireworks in some places when it explodes into the air. What a great idea.
