It’s amazing how things have changed in the computer world and just how quickly it has done so. I bought my first computer in 1998 and it had 6 gigs of space. I have just as much room on my mobile phone.
To give you an idea of just how much has changed in the last 20 years alone, this photo compares just one gig both now and from 20 years ago.
thanks to gizmodo for the photo.

“Faces in Places” is a funny little photo pool or group at Flickr. People who have found a face in an unusual place are sharing their photos and some of them are just plain fun to look at.
I have picked a few of my favourites and I know for the next few days I will be looking for faces myself. Who knows I may add a few as well.

This story is amazing and the images are beautiful and inspirational. The “world’s littlest angel” Kenadie Jourdin was born in 2003 and her parents were told she might not live through the night due to the fact she was born with primordial dwarfism. This extremely rare condition affects only 100 people in the world. She isn’t expected to grow past about 30 inches or weigh more than 8 pounds.
Her story is just amazing and I wanted to share these beautiful images with you.

With Cyclonic conditions in the oceans nearby the coast of New South Wales was overwhelmed with a massive wall of sea foam. From these shots it looks like a lot fun actually.
The foam stretched for 30 miles out into the Pacific in a phenomenon not seen at the beach for more than three decades.
Scientists explain that the foam is created by impurities in the ocean, such as salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed.
Visit the link below to the daily mail for more details.

Forget Bradd and Angelina or even Bradd and Jennifer, what about Jennifer and Angelina? Now your talking crazy.
Here is your chance to play god just a little bit. Basically you upload facial photos and prepare them using the great web interface by selecting common areas of the face such as eyes, mouth, nose, ears…you get the idea. Once you are done you can merge them together and see what it would be like if the two people in the image had a baby and that baby grew up to become an adult.
If your to lazy or pressed for time to upload and prepare your own photos the have a list of celebrity photos for you to use that have already been prepared. It’s well built, easy to use, very fun and totally free. If you want to use your own photos you will need to sign up for a free account but it took me only a few seconds to do.
Enjoy the Morphthing

I know what your thinking if your reading this right now “What the heck is Content Aware Image Resizing?” I was thinking same exact thing. In a nutshell without getting too technical it’s basically a new technology on the horizon that will allow for a new way to resize images both quickly and effectively.
I run into this problem nearly every day with both colleagues and clients. They need to resize an image to use on the web and don’t know how to go about doing it. Both the width and height of an image and the actual bandwidth or size of the image. This can be tricky and usually involves some sort of image editing tool like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Fireworks. A few sites have popped up that allow you to do this without the huge purchase and install of an Adobe Product (www.picnik.com, www.snipshot.com, www.pixenate.com) but deciding which part of a photo to crop out can also still be tricky. All this could be a thing of the past.
I recommend you watch the video after the link below and see for yourself. He explains this pretty well so you can totally understand just how cool this is and how great it will be once it becomes available.

I just love the work done by David O’Keefe. His sculptures have so much character and life to them. The exaggerated features of the celebrities he portrays is truly amazing and spot on.
It all reminds me of the work done on the Genesis video in the 80’s for the song called “Land of Confusion” (you can see the youtube video here). However, the puppets used in that video were actually made by Peter Fluck and Roger Law who also made puppets for a British television show called ““Spitting Image”.

Now this is pretty cool stuff. It’s new technology that allows a new layer to be added to both video and printed material enabling digital cameras to see something that the human eye can not see. The photo to the right has an example of a t-shirt worn by the lovely model that with naked eye looks like a cloud. But if viewed with a digital camera you can see a lightning bolt below the cloud. This means we may soon be seeing things in our photos that we did not see when we took the photo. I can see advertisers using this all over the place and could even be used to stop (or hinder) pirated copies of movies.
You can find a bit more about the science behind the technology at their website and see a few more example images:

I can’t believe I didn’t find this sooner. Moo.com is a well built site that takes your photos and does some pretty cool things with them. You can get a set of mini business cards that are full color with a different photo on each card. Now you can also get a set of 90 stickers with a different photo on each sticker for only €7.95 (about $10).
I just ordered a set to be delivered to me here in Ireland and since shipping is free for the month of July it didn’t cost me any more than €7.95. I mean who doesn’t love stickers? I know my kids are going to have loads of fun sticking their little mini sticker faces all over the place.
The best part for me was exactly how easy it was since I could connect Moo.com to Flickr so that way I didn’t have to upload anything. I only had to pick which photos I wanted on my 90 stickers. My sets and tags were even available to me as well. If that was not cool enough they also let you decide how you want each photo cropped and placed on each sticker. Since the stickers are square and the photos are rectangles there will be cropping. But since they let you use some AJAX goodness to see what each box will look like, there is no worries.
Now I sit back and wait for Mr. Postman Pat to deliver my sticky goodies.

I have always loved optical illusions and these photos are not exception. It looks as though the people standing at the bottom of this pool are all wet and stuck to the bottom with perhaps some kind of weight but they are not wet at all. They are standing under a clear border that separates them from the water. The water is only a few feet deep and the pool has a tunnel built in so visitors can climb under the water and look up. It makes for a great illusion.
