Joshua Heineman has some great animated GIF’s that are taken from old photos that were taken with cameras that had two lenses. The original effect was to be used with a special viewer that allowed the person viewing the images to see them with a special viewer which had one for each eye. This gave the photos a 3D feel to them and were very effective. Josh’s solution is simple but effective. The two images are placed into a two frame GIF and played over and over repeatedly. They look a bit jerky at first the effect is clearly visible.
I read a story once by Piers Anthony in which the main character wore a snake ring he called “sning” that would squeeze once for yes and twice for no to any question he would ask. Ever since reading about the ring I have always be fascinated with any sort of ring that did more than just look good. These rings are not quite the soothsayer “sning” was but they could tell you things you don’t know.
Each of these rings is fitted with a microphone and your meant to wear one ring on each finger. The reason is because the ring will listen to your environment and warn you of any danger or situation that may require your attention. These situation may include an on coming car or perhaps someone calling your name. I am assuming these are meant to be used by people who can hear or just can’t hear very well. I love it that people are coming up with ideas to make something we wear more functional.
Here is a link for more information. It’s only a prototype at the moment but who knows we could see people wearing these some day.
Have you ever wondered what Bruce Lee might look like had he not died at such a young age? How about Marilyn Monroe? Well photographer and Photoshop guru Andrzej Dragan has done just that and a lot more.
The attention to detail is just amazing and his photos are the kind of thing you can stare at for hours and still see something new. I really enjoyed looking at his work and have placed a few of my favorites for you to see.
I spent the day playing with my kids and we made a mini race track around the house. It’s amazing how much fun you can have with two pieces of wood and a little imagination.
With all the hype that’s now buzzing about the new “Sex and the City” movie I felt it would be a good time to pull up an oldie but a goody. These flash animations were made by a website that no longer exists called Romp.com. The files thankfully are still alive online and available for us to enjoy.
There were only 5 episodes and each one takes it’s own spin and gives a smack on the butt to the whole “Sex and the City” cast. I still laugh each time I watch these.
Each of these are very much like “Sex and the City” in that they are not very safe for work. You’ve been warned.
I seen these and thought it was worth sharing. It’s probably the cutest thing you’ll ever see here but the photos are worth seeing. Such emotion in the eyes and faces of these animals. Some truly amazing photos.
Plus I am testing out the new Wordpress image gallery feature to see how it works.
This solar powered light is also a cap that fits all standard 2.25” diameter bottles. The Lightcap 200 is fitted with 4 super bright LED lights, totally sealed with a waterproof switch and has a solar panel for recharging the battery.
I love anything that lights up and I love it even more if I don’t have to buy batteries for it.
In Ireland we have to pay for our plastic bags at the grocery stores. It’s not a lot of money but if you need 10 bags it can add up pretty quick. You now see a lot of Irish people bring their own bags but I always forget mine. I end up dumping everything in the trunk of my car and have even placed a box in the trunk to dump all my things into.
This new fancy bag looks like a nice alternative to buying bags or even buying a more permanent bag to use. Since this bag folds up into itself making it very easy to put into a jacket or even a pocket I like it even more. I am not sure if they make a black bag and I would seriously prefer not have to carry around a fruity looking bag.
We wrote about these before here and now they have released a new line of products that look to be a step in the right direction.
Basically they are a replacement for your memory card in your digital camera that allows you to then connect to pretty much any wireless network and actually send the photos to a supported site such as Flickr. You can also send files to your computer without using your cables. The card also has the option of geo-tagging (tagging your photos with GPS information) automatically using a 3rd party service called Skyhook.
It all looks very interesting and the next time I buy a memory card it am sure it will be one of these. What a great idea.
Eye-Fi Explore ($129): Includes one year’s worth of automatic hotspot uploads via Wayport. Also includes Wi-Fi geotagging via Skyhook.
Eye-Fi Share ($99): Same as the current version of the Wi-Fi card; uploads via preprogrammed networks and integrates with Flickr and other services.
Eye-Fi Home ($79): Basic version, includes preprogrammed network uploads but no online integration.
I recently received an email from some friends with a little animated movie from JibJab. I was impressed at first that they had taken the time to make one and send it out but then decided to follow it to the source. We have all seen these before in fact I have a few on this site which I will link below, basically you upload your images and crop the face and they do the rest by animated it for you. This is a little different because it’s not exactly free, they are charging money for credits and each time you send one of these to your friends it’s going to cost you. Now some are very clever and funny to watch but I think they could have found another way to make money and keep it free for us all. I for one don’t mind seeing an ad before the video.
